Notice served on former Haygate Pub site

Haygate Pub Site

Cllr Graham Cook, who serves residents of Haygate Ward has provided an update regarding the derelict site of the former Haygate Pub site on Haygate Road in Wellington. In recent months it has continued to become an overgrown eyesore and insecure as a site.

Cllr Cook has received confirmation that Telford and Wrekin Council have served a section 215 notice, the detail of the notice requires the owners of the site remove the partially collapsed metal fencing and secure the Haygate Road boundary with a two-metre solid wooden fence.

The notice also stipulates a further request that will see the site cleared of rubble, overgrown vegetation, waste and other items; ensuring that the land is cleared and it is no longer an eyesore, along the busy route into the centre of Wellington.

At this time the future development of the site is unclear, however, Cllr Cook was clear in his commitment to continue to monitor the site and work with Telford and Wrekin Council. Contractors are expected on-site during the first week of October to undertake the work.
